[Wine Country] is the movie that you want to watch with your friends after coming back inside from the beach.

I am not a summer gal, and most likely will never be one due to the fact I like to be in places below 80 degrees, but I do have many happy memories from the summer. Being embarrassingly sunburnt and running down the beach with your friends is a different type of feeling, a feeling that I always hope to go through again. Summer is nostalgic, so I decided to list some of my favorite summer movies from my childhood.

Teen Beach Movie (2013)

I’m unhealthily obsessed with this movie; seriously, ask anyone that knows me. You have Ross Lynch, the beach, and a musical all in one (oh my god??). If you asked me to sing along to every single song without missing a beat, I could probably do it. The movie is just so innocent and beautiful; it captures a great vibe. I didn’t teach myself the Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’ choreography just for this movie not to end up on this list. Give it a watch, or 10, and tell me if you fell for it as I did.

Grown Ups 2 (2013)

My sister and I grew up with this movie, and it’d be traitorous if it didn’t make it on here. Adam Sandler movies are the epitome of my childhood, and I remember shoving copious amounts of ice cream in my mouth while I watched a group of adults make absolute fools of themselves. There are just so many good jokes littered throughout the movie, and it’s a perfect summer flick. It’s a controversial opinion to like the sequel better than the original, but Grown Ups 2 easily takes the cake.

Aquamarine (2006)

There is no reason someone shouldn’t watch this movie, it’s a masterpiece, and it’s literally free on Youtube. Housing a mermaid in a water tower sounds like something that I’d personally really enjoy. Everything about this movie is so fun, and it never gets boring. I’ve always wanted to try the dress trick that the mermaid pulls off; it was so flawlessly perfect. Teenage coming-of-age movies that are placed in the summer just capture a perfect mood. Please watch it so I can talk about this movie with someone that doesn’t look at me like I’m crazy!!!

500 Days of Summer (2009)

Odd choice, I know. I felt obligated to include this movie since it literally has the word summer in it and also because I love Zooey Deschanel. Even though this movie does have its depressing bits, in my very humble opinion, I still think it’s perfect. Being in love and skipping through an IKEA sounds like the date of my dreams, don’t even play with me. The scene where Joseph Gordon-Levitt dances throughout a park while singing You Make My Dreams is marvelous; In the short period of time that the two characters are in love, it is very sweet, and it’s all worth the 1 hour and 35 minutes.

Wine Country (2019)

I just watched this movie with my sister and mother, and it’s extremely safe to say that I was laughing the entire time. The leading group of women is cast perfectly, and the whole plot is so interesting. It’s just a bunch of older women with too much stuff going on in their lives deciding to go on a vacation for their friend’s 50th birthday. The scriptwriting is hilarious, and it’s a movie that everybody can enjoy. This is the movie that you want to watch with your friends after coming back inside from the beach.
