St. Petersburg High School’s Palmetto & Pine would like to welcome you to our student-run newspaper!

Founded in 1904, our paper is the oldest school publication in Pinellas County. Due to a controversial article published by the SPHS News in 2005, the principal made the decision to discontinue this newspaper. In 2021, the paper was revived with the mission to restore the voices of the SPHS students. This newspaper has always been guided by our motto: “by the students, for the students.” We are dedicated to bringing this slogan to life by maintaining the integrity and motivation of our journalistic predecessors. Although we are committed to preserving the history of the Palmetto & Pine, we are eager to explore new creative avenues and modernize the content of this publication.
