Janie Cunneen

“Don’t focus on the bad shots, just worry about your next shot and how you can do better.”

After four years of being a part of the St. Petersburg High School girl’s varsity golf team, Janie Cunneen is now a retired green devil. Janie has led the team to the FHSAA state championship two years back to back and has placed top five at every tournament this year. Here are some of Janie’s thoughts and reflections after four years as a Green Devil.

How much experience do you have with golf?

“I have been playing golf since I was 6 years old.”

What kind of mindset do you think someone needs in order to play this sport?

“I think you need to be calm, cool, and collected at all times while playing golf. Easy going is also very important because if you have one bad shot you have to be able to forget about it and move on.”

What were you most excited about for the FHSSA championship this year?

“I was really excited for the team dinners. They are always so fun and exciting.”

What is your favorite part of the game?

“My favorite part is hitting my driver and hearing how pure it sounds.”

What is your favorite club and why?

“My favorite club is my seven iron because it never fails me even when every other club is.”

Do you have a style or philosophy when playing golf?

“Don’t focus on the bad shots, just worry about your next shot and how you can do better.”

What trends in the golf industry are you currently following?

“I am currently following the visor trend.”
