This season saw a stellar performance from the team. Everyone from distance to sprinters to field athletes saw new personal bests and even school records being disputed and broken. Lets look back at some of the best of this season.
The distance squad soared to new heights this season, with athletes qualifying for regionals in the 3200, the 1600, the 800, and the 4×800 for both the boys and the girls. Senior Caedmon Higgins managed at qualification for the FSU relays in the 3200, which is the biggest meet in the state of Florida and saw runners from all over the southeast competing and he managed one of the best 3200 times in school history with a 9:40. The boys team also managed a remarkable 1,2,3 finish in a tactical 1600 race at the district championships. Our sprint squad also saw massive success and progress this season, with the 4×400 and the 4×100 both managing qualifications to the FSU relays, and with athletes qualifying for regionals in the 100 and 110 hurdle events. There have also been amazing and blazing times being set with Joseph Galarza flying in the city champs with 52.75 400 and with even faster 4×400 splits. The girls 400 team has also excelled with a rotating lineup mixed with distance and sprinters that has turned heads at recent meets, with splits in the very low 1 minutes. The hurdlers had an amazing season, with seniors Kingston, Eli, and Addie all qualifying for regionals in the 100 and 110 hurdles.
The field athletes saw a strong season with school records being broken and with athletes excelling in all sorts of events. The jumpers saw multiple athletes make regionals with Kirra Adamosky qualifying for high jump, and Evan Wilson making the cut for long and triple jump. Our throwers had an amazing season, with distance runner Isabella Grasso even breaking a school record for the Javelin, displaying amazing versatility across two disciplines that are almost opposite of each other, and with Carolina Ireson only furthering the record. Brody True also managed to qualify for regionals with the Javelin and meet a tough standard at the FSU relays.
The team showed unwavering dedication and support for each other, and by the end it all paid off. St Pete managed to score an impressive runner up spot at the 3A district championships Our Green Devils have also managed impressive performances fighting for the top spots at the PCAC and City champs.
