Lacrosse Season Begins

With the beginning of this year’s lacrosse season fast approaching, lacrosse conditioning is in full swing in preparation for a more successful year than last. Conditioning began immediately after the end of the winter break and will continue until the first game of the season on February 17th against Mitchell for the girls and St. Stevens for the boys. After last year’s elimination before districts for the boys and elimination in the 2nd round for girls, players are eager for a triumphant end to this season. Girls team captain Kristin Rasmussen says, “under the strong leadership of our new coach Tim McGoff we are expecting a great season this year, we have some really talented new players and our practices have been great!”

Freshman Charlie Bretko says he is “super excited to start playing”, Charlie plays lacrosse because “it’s fast-paced and has a smooth feel to it that makes players love it so much.” Although many students on the team play club at places like Tampa Bay Palms and Storm Select, there are a lot of players who are new to the sport. Sophomore Lauren Dickinson is playing lacrosse for the first time this season and says, “it was super easy to adjust to the sport and the team has a great environment.” Make sure to come out to the first game on February 17th and cheer on our green devils, we can surely expect great things from both teams this season!
