Winter break officially begins on December 23rd and St. Pete High students are excited to finish up their midterms and relax. The Palmetto & Pine staff interviewed students to see how they are going to be spending their break. Many students are traveling; sophomore Sarah Weber is traveling to Tuscany. She says that she is “excited to go on hikes, swim, and eat lots of great food!” Sophomore Elyce Mairn and junior Sydney Davis will be taking a cruise to Alaska. Sydney says she “can’t wait to travel there because it’s such a unique experience” and Elyce says “it will be really cold, but [she is] excited to go whale watching and see the northern lights.”

Others are traveling more locally. Junior Tate Keber will be driving to Miami to spend the holidays with her family. She “loves Christmas because it brings everyone together” and she says that she cannot wait to see her extended family since she has not seen many of them in years. Junior Kristin Rasmussen will be flying to Colorado where she is going to be staying at a ski resort and learning how to ski for the first time. She says she is looking forward to “drinking hot chocolate, having fun with [her] family, and taking a break from studying!”

Not everyone will be traveling, however. Sophomore Jimmy Johnson is planning on staying in St. Pete and “spending the break hanging out with [his] girlfriend.” No matter what your plans are for Winter break, green devils are going to be having a lot of fun this year, so keep studying and working hard!
